Austria - 1981 onwards.
According to the WMO Register on National Weather Modification Projects for 1984 and 1985 (WMO/TD-No. 182), published in 1987, Hail Suppression operations started in 1981 in 'Lower Austria', in the district of Krems-Langenlois. 2 aircraft were used that were equipped with acetone and silver iodide burners and they seeded the cloud base. The 'Hail Defence Project' for 'Styria' was operational from 1982 in the district of Gleisdorf-Weiz. 4 aircraft were used for this project which dispersed acetone and silver iodide at the cloud base. The 1987 WMO report states that operations would continue.
The 2006 WMO weather modification register states the Langenlois project data had been analysed from 1981 to 2000 and the project was reclassified as a 'Hail Test Project '. The organisation carrying out the project is the Union for Culture Protection around Langenlois, based at, KSV (Kulturenschutzverein für Langenlois und Umgebung), in Langenlois. The reporting organisation is ZAMG (Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik), Dep. of Climatology, in Vienna. The 'Styria' project was also renamed as a 'Hail Test Project ' on the 2006 WMO report. It is claimed the starting year was 1985 which contradicts the 1984/85 report which says it was started in 1982. The weather modification period runs from May to September every year. The Styria project data had been analysed up to 2001 by 2007, when it was stated they had the "Results of the 20 year running hailpad project 'Styria', 1982-2001." The organisation carrying out the weather modification activity is the Styrian Hail Suppression Company who are based at Steirische Hagelabwehrgenossenschaft, in St.Ruprecht an der Raab. The reporting organisation is also the ZAMG (Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik) based in Vienna.
Belgium - 2016
In September 2016, the MENAFN (Middle East, North Africa, Financial Network) news outlet published an article titled, "UAE rain enhancement programme delegates visit leading European institutions." The United Arab Emirates Research Programme for Rain Enhancement Science, UAEREP, participated in a 2 week European research cooperation visit to promote the country's ground-breaking initiative and exchange innovative ideas on rain enhancement, in efforts to encourage deeper collaboration in this promising field of atmospheric research. "The roadshow to promote the programme included visits to Bologna and Trieste in Italy, as well as Stuttgart and Karlsruhe in Germany and Brussels in Belgium. The UAE delegation met with over 38 scientists and researchers from several climatology research groups across scientific disciplines such as atmospheric modeling, cloud physics, dynamics and chemistry, aerosol science, earth sciences, hydrology and geology. The team also interacted with 15 government entities, universities and research facilities across Italy, Germany and Belgium."
It is not clear if Belgium has had or does have a weather modification programme.
Bosnia & Herzegovina - 1975 onwards
The WMO 2006 register has an entry for Bosnia and Herzegovina that states there is an operational Hail Suppression programme that started in 1975. The organisation responsible for this and they also do the reporting on it is, JODP, PROTIVGRADNA ZASTITA RS. based in Gradiska, Republika Srpska, Bosna i Hercegovina.
During the BBC's presentation of the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo it was stated, via a special segment of programming, that silver iodide cloud seeding had taken place to increase snowfall. (That's when I first learnt in detail about weather modification, 40 years ago.)
Bulgaria - 1969 onwards
The WMO 1984/1985 register states that there is a hail suppression programme in place since 1969 which uses odourless rocket dispersed Lead Iodide for cloud seeding. The project runs from May to September up to the 2006 WMO register entry which states the project runs from May to October. The organisation carrying out the activity is the "Agency Hail Suppression" which is based in Sofia.
In 2014 the 'Sky Clear' meteorological website in Romania had a products page where it states the company works in the area of weather modification and employs the best scientists from Bulgaria and Russia. All of their products pass obligatory testing on the Bulgarian experimental installations. Anti Hail products include the 'Sky Clear 6' system, aircraft based generators and flare cartridges and geound based generators. Increase or decrease in precipitation products include the 'Sky Clear 5' system, aircraft generators for hygroscopic reagents such as 'Sky Clear 1000' and ground based generators. Products are also supplied for fog dissipation.
In 2016 there was a sudden introduction across western media outlets of articles relating to the 'chemtrails conspiracy theory'. Those articles included many scientists talking about the theory. They all had the outcome that basically stated that people who believe their weather is being modified are bonkers. Those articles lasted for about 3 months and were probably published due to an uptick in people around the world reporting about what is happening in their skies that they haven't seen before. We are, in 2024, currently seeing an uptick again in media reports that push the term 'chemtrails conspiracy theory' but this time around it is probably to get clicks and likes which generate ad revenue.
There were exceptions in 2016. The Spanish police set up a reporting hotline for people to report what they see in the sky. The 'Sofia Globe' was another exception when they published an article titled, "Bulgarian presidential candidate says check on ‘chemtrails’ possible." The article states that in a video posted online of a campaign meeting, The candidate, Radev, is heard saying, “if there is such a thing we will take steps, but at the moment I am not aware that there is such a thing such as deliberately, consciously spraying”. The article does comment via wikipedia sourced information that its just contrails etc.
Cyprus
The 'Cyprus' story enters in 2014 with the 'Cyprus Mail' publishing an article in February 2014 titled, "Chemtrail controversy won’t go away." The image used in the article shows you everything you need to know. It's important to note here that there was a global movement against geo-engineering primarily active between 2011 and 2016 with regular globally co-ordinated protests. Hence why there was an explosion in 2016 of MSM articles debunking all and every claim being made by the public across many countries. The 'Cyprus Mail' article opens with, "Green Party members are calling on the public to join them at an event to raise awareness of chemtrail and geo- engineering phenomena, which they say is happening in the skies over Cyprus. A peaceful protest will be held on Saturday at the entrance to Paphos harbour from 11am and will feature a Skype link-up with Greek activists who will demonstrate at the same time at Syntagma Square in Athens. Other demonstrations are scheduled to take place simultaneously around the world."
In October 2015, The Cyprus Green Party released an official press release stating "The Republic of Cyprus has taken a stance officially against the chemical spraying (Chemtrails) and Geoengineering. For a number of years now, in parallel with the international mobilization for reduction of the industrial pollution that is responsible for climate change, in certain scientific institutes of the United States, Britain and elsewhere, the theory of geoengineering has been under development."
The 'Cyprus Mail', about 2 months before the MSM 'scientists say it's just contrails' articles, in Februray 2016, published an article titled, "Minister pledges probe into chemtrails." which showed a clear intent, "Agriculture and Environment Minister Nicos Kouyialis has pledged that the government will look into the alleged spraying of chemtrails in Cypriot skies, following demands by concerned citizen activist groups and farmers. The matter of suspicious aerial spraying – believed by some to be chemtrails – was discussed on Wednesday at the House environment committee. Speaking to the media later, Greens MP George Perdikis – who tabled the issue – said they were pleased with the minister’s commitment to investigate. Perdikis said he hoped this time a proper probe would be done with the participation of government departments as well as experts from universities here and abroad. Assuming chemtrails were proved, he added, they expected the government to take the necessary action to put a stop to it."
Also in February 2016, The UK's 'Daily Mail' reported that the "RAF stole our rain, says Cyprus as British military bizarrely accused of interfering with the weather so Tornado and Typhoon aircraft can fly. Local weathermen recently forecast heavy rain only for it to remain dry. British forces have been accused of using a chemical to divert rain clouds. The Ministry of Defence has rubbished the claims by the Cypriot government. But the Royal Air Force has reportedly been accused by the Cypriot government of interfering with the weather so its Tornado and Typhoon aircraft can fly missions to Syria and Iraq in clear conditions. Last night, an island newspaper reported that the Cypriot government was accusing British forces of cloud-seeding, a technique using a chemical to divert rain clouds. Agriculture minister Nicos Kouyialis is said to have ordered an official inquiry."
In July 2016, the 'Cyprus Mail' reported that investigations had taken place and that "Ministry report rules out presence of chemtrails." The article continues, "A report ordered by the agriculture ministry has found that tracks observed in skies over Cyprus are due to normal vapour trails from aircraft, and not to chemtrails – but critics aren’t convinced."
That July article was during the MSM 'conspiracy theory' onslaught mentioned earlier.
