The 'Business World' news outlet reported on the 25th of April that "A Philippine Senator urged the government on Thursday to explore cloud seeding, to activate hydropower plants that have stopped working due to the drought caused by the El Niño weather pattern. “In Dubai they tried cloud seeding and it started raining over there, if we can try cloud seeding to get our hydropower plants working since maybe (if El Niño worsens) our other plants may also stop working,” Senator Sherwin T. Gatchalian, speaking in Filipino, told a forum at the Senate."
On the 27th of April, the 'Sun Star' news outlet reported that, "the Department of Energy (DOE) said Thursday, April 25, 2024 that it (cloud seeding) is no silver bullet that can instantly solve the problem. In a statement, the agency said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had already directed the implementation of cloud seeding operations and that these were already being conducted in “certain areas of the country.”
The 'Philippine News Agency' reported on the 30th of April that, "Ilocos Norte gears up cloud seeding operation. At least 50 bags of sodium chloride weighing 25 kilograms each and a helicopter of the Philippine Airforce are on standby on Tuesday while waiting for the perfect timing to conduct cloud seeding operation in drought-hit Solsona town."
